Note Pad Online is a private notepad. Everything you write stays on your device — no accounts, no trackers, no analytics. The only exception is the optional share feature: if you explicitly turn it on and share a note, an end-to-end encrypted copy of that one note is uploaded so your link works. We can never read it.

What We Store
The extension saves your notes and preferences (such as theme and language) directly in your browser's local storage. This data stays on your device — we do not upload it, copy it to any server, or share it with anyone.
We do not collect your name, email, IP address, or any account information. The extension requires no sign-up.
What We Don't Collect
We don't use analytics, advertising SDKs, or third-party trackers. We don't read the pages you browse, your tabs, or your history. We don't sync your notes across devices or back them up to the cloud. The optional share feature (described below) is off by default, and while it is off the extension makes no network requests at all.
Optional Note Sharing
The extension includes an optional feature to share a single note as a link. It is off by default and only activates after you review and accept a consent dialog in the extension.
When you share a note:
- The note is encrypted on your device (AES-256) before anything is uploaded. The decryption key is either embedded in the link itself (the part after
#, which browsers never send to servers) or derived from a password you choose. In both cases, we cannot read your note. - Only the encrypted copy of that one note is stored on our server (hosted on Cloudflare Workers). It is stored without your name, email, or any account identifier — there are still no accounts.
- Shared links expire automatically after 30 days, and you can delete a share earlier at any time from the share dialog.
- All your other notes never leave your device, whether sharing is on or off.
Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, may transiently process technical request data (such as IP addresses) to deliver the service, as described in Cloudflare's own privacy policy. We do not log or store this data ourselves.
External Links
After installing the extension, a short welcome page may open in a new tab. If you uninstall the extension, Chrome may open an optional feedback form. Both are external pages with their own privacy policies, and you're free to close them without taking any action.
Data Retention & Deletion
Your notes remain on your device until you delete them or uninstall the extension. Uninstalling removes all extension data, so please export anything you'd like to keep beforehand.
Shared notes are deleted from the server automatically after 30 days, or immediately when you delete the share link in the extension.
Cookies
The Note Pad Online website does not use tracking or analytics cookies. The extension itself does not use cookies.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
